ABOUT OSSIEM

Founded by a former fashion editor, OSSIEM has been inspired by a feeling and a desire to create jewellery that is not only beautiful and refined, but also evokes a sense of ease - quietly confident pieces that explore the balance between luxury and the realities of daily life.

Handcrafted between London's Hatton Garden and Hove, OSSIEM combines modern design with traditional and ancient techniques to create pieces that embrace organic forms and an imperfect aesthetic.

INTENTIONAL DESIGN

All pieces are designed and finished in my East Sussex studio by the sea and begin life as a hand-sculpted wax model or organic object. They are then skilfully cast in London's Hatton Garden into recycled metal using the ancient method of lost-wax casting. I only create collections in small, considered batches to ensure each piece is made with both care and intention.

THE BEAUTY OF IMPERFECTION

Due to the artisanal techniques used, there may be pleasing and subtle variations in surface, pattern and colour. I believe imperfections and maker's marks should be cherished. In a world of mass-produced items, a unique, handcrafted piece is a true luxury. OSSIEM embraces an imperfect aesthetic and the feeling of refined ease this helps to create.

HALLMARKING

A hallmark is a set of marks that guarantees a precious metal's purity and provenance. It is a legal requirement for sterling silver pieces weighing over 7.78g and gold pieces over 1g to be hallmarked. My sponsor's mark is OM and is incredibly special to me. OSSIEM was named after two people who have shaped who I am. My mark quietly honours both names.
